『吉田町秋祭り』

宇和島市吉田町の八幡神社の祭礼。
吉田秋祭りは、江戸時代製作の絵巻から当時の様子が 把握でき、現在も江戸時代と変わらない町割りで祭礼が行われているのが特徴です。

お祭りで町中を練り歩く行列は「おねり」と呼ばれ、 由緒ある人形を乗せた「人形屋台（練車）」や鹿の面を 被り舞う「鹿の子」、「暴れ牛鬼」「練車」「御舟」など 多彩で貴菫な練りを見ることができます。
また、絵巻の絵が使われたお祭りポスターがかわいい。

『大四日市まつり』
（三重県四日市市、毎年8月の第一土日に開催）
大四日市まつりは、四日市の中心部で行われていた「港まつり」「七夕まつり」「商品祭」 の三つの祭を統合して始まったお祭り。二日間に渡って開催されるこのお祭りは、初日は 「おどりの日」として、市民参加の踊りや獅子舞などの郷土芸能が披露され、二日目は 「郷土の文化財と伝統芸能」と題して、市内のネリや山車などの演技を見ることができます。
特にユニークな「からくり山車」は見応えがあり、なかでも首が長く伸びる「大入道」のから くり人形は人気です。正式名称は「大入道魔性活動人形」というらしい（笑）。 ドラと太鼓のリズムに合わせて首が伸びていき、 赤く目を見開きながら長い舌を出す姿は、インパクトがあります。
子どもだったらちょっと怖くて 泣いてしまうかもしれません。

『長崎ランタンフェスティバル』

中国の旧正月を祝う「春節祭」を起源として、 長崎の新地中華街の街の人たちによって始められたお祭り。
街中がこれでもか！ ！というほどランタンとオブジェで埋め尽くされます。
会場がいくつかあるので、 巡りながら街中を観光したりやグルメ屋台を楽しんだりできます。
ランタンのオブジェは夜に見るととても幻想的ですが、日中に見ると非常にシュールな仔まいをしているので、 これもまた面白いので見て欲しいです。
日本文化とは違ったボリュ ーム満点の装飾は見ていて新鮮で楽しいです。

『青森ねぶた祭』

東北三大祭りの一つで、全国的にも有名で人気のお祭り。 ねぶたと呼ばれる明かりを灯した巨大な灯籠を山車に乗せて練り歩き、 その周りを「ハネト」と呼ばれる踊り手が「ラッセーラー！ラッセーラー！」と 掛け声をかけながらピョンピョン飛び跳ねます。
ねぶたは針金と紙でできており、ねぶた師たちによって３ヶ月かけて制作されます。 また、優秀な大型ねぶたには賞が与えられて、受賞したねぶたは青森市にある、「ねぶたの家 ワ・ラッセ」というねぶた祭の歴史や魅力をて紹介している施設に 展示されます。お祭り期間外でもねぶたを間近で見ることができるので、こちらも おすすめです。

藩政時代から伝わる盆踊りの「さんさ踊り」を一つにまとめ、観光イベントとして開催されるのが「盛岡さんさ踊り」です。
さんさ踊りには、一般的な踊りと伝統さんさと呼ばれる各地域に伝わってきたさんさ踊りがあります。伝統さんさでは、多くの団体が笠に牡丹や蓮華の造花をつけた衣装 で、ダイナミックな踊りを踊るのが特徴的です。特にさんさ踊りの魅力である、踊りながら叩く太鼓演奏は圧巻です。
盛岡さんさ踊りでは、踊り手、笛、太鼓のパレードが行われます。この太鼓パレードは「最大集合人数での和太鼓演奏（Largest Japanese Drum Ensemble）」というギネス記録を持っているのです。「サッコラチョイワヤッセー」という掛け声で踊るさんさ踊り。幸呼来（サッコラ）と いう、呼べば幸せがやってくるという意味を持ち、幸せの訪れを願う素敵なお祭りです。

『弥栄神社祇園祭（鷺舞神事）』
（島根県津和野町、毎年7月20日・24日に開催）
鷺舞は津和野の弥栄神社に伝わる古典芸能神事。もともと、鷺舞京都の八坂神社祇園会に伝えられたもので、京都から山口、山口から津和野へと伝わり現在に続いている。なので毎年祇園祭りの７月２０日（ご神幸の日）と２７日（ご還 幸の日）に町内のいくつかの昔から定められた場所で、舞を披露します。
雄と雌の鷺舞が、お囃子と唄とともに舞う姿がとても美しく、特に羽が開いたときのフォルムと、シャッと響く音も神々しく素敵です。この鷺舞の衣装は、羽が開いたときに最も美しく見 えるように工夫されていて、檜の木材を39枚も重ねて作られており、重量は15 Kgもあるそう です。
舞以外の儀式も興味深くて、頭屋が鷺舞一行をお迎えに行くというくだりがあるのですが、2度断られてしまいます。3度目のお迎えの途中で、自ら出てきた鷺舞一行と落ち合うという決まりになっています。昔は７回も断られるという流れだったそう。なぜ７回も鷺舞一行は断ったのだろうかと疑問です。

『犬っ子まつり』
（秋田県湯沢市、毎年2月第2土・日開催）
「犬っこ」とは「犬」に愛嬌をこめて「こ」を付けて呼ぶ秋田弁。 犬っこまつりは湯沢地区で約400年続く民俗行事。雪で作られた犬っこやお堂にろうそくが灯り、ファンタジーな景色が広がるお祭り。お堂の周りには頭巾をかぶった雪人娘が登場する。
犬っこまつりは特に愛犬家に人気が高く、会場にある「犬っこ神社」では、愛犬祈願や個別に犬っこお祓いが受けれられる。私も犬を連れて行ってみたい。

『八戸三社大祭』

約290年の歴史と伝統のある八戸地方最大のお祭り。
様々な郷土芸能がの行列と、民謡や歌舞伎などを題材にした27台もの「仕掛け山車」が参加する迫力ある華やかなお祭りとなっています。
行列では、法霊神楽（ほうりょうかぐら）、虎舞、大神楽、駒踊（こまおどり）、笹の葉踊などを見ることができます。そして山車が予想以上の豪華さ！
ねぶた同様、毎年作り変えられるというのにも驚きです。
仕掛け山車なので装飾が迫り上がるだけでなく、炭酸ガスまで噴出されたりするので、見ているとド派手な紅白歌手のステージを連想させられます。
昔ながらの伝統と現代のものが混合した とっても面白いお祭りだと思います。

『姫島盆踊り』
（大分県姫島村、毎年8月14日から16日に開催）
一風変わった「仮装盆踊り」が行われる姫島盆踊り。 姫島は6つの地区分かれており、その地区ごとに踊る演目が異なるという特徴 があります。また、それぞれの踊りの組が、各地区に設置された「坪」と呼ば れる盆踊り会場を次々順番に回ってきて、そこで自分の地区の演目を披露するというめずらしい盆踊りです。
踊りには伝統踊りと創作踊りがあり、伝統踊りには、キツネ踊りをはじめアヤ踊り、銭太鼓、猿丸太夫があり、地区の子供たちや一般の人々によって踊り継がれています。
創作踊りはその年にしか踊らない演目。大河の仮装をして踊るもの、歌舞伎をもとにしたもの、若者がアニメキャラクターなどの仮装をして踊るものなどがある、伝統を大切にしながら、時代に合わせて進化しつづける盆踊りです。

「牛鬼（うしおに）」という巨大な山車が市内を練り歩くパレードや宇和島おどり、 花火大会などのイベントが行われる、四国有数の夏まつりのひとつ。
メインとなる「親牛鬼パレード」では、全長5〜6メートルもの牛鬼を数十人で担ぎながら進んでいく。しかも、この長い首が左右に振られたり、前に突っ込んだりと激しい動きをするので迫力満点である。
イベントには子どもの牛鬼パレードもあるので、かわいい牛鬼たちも登場する。
子どもの時から自然に地域の芸能に触れられるのは羨ましいです。

（山形上山市、毎年2月中旬に開催）
ケンダイと呼ばれる藁のかぶりものを被った若者に祝い水をかけ、五穀豊穣や商売繁盛を 祈る伝統の民俗行事。「カッカッカー」と歌いながら、カセ鳥たちがピョンピョン跳ね回る姿はとても愛らしい。
加勢鳥に出会ったら祝い水をかけるのが習わしで、加勢鳥の頭に手ぬぐいを巻いてあげて祈願をする。また、加勢鳥から抜けた藁は縁起物である。

『塩竈みなと祭』
（宮城県塩釜市、毎年7月中旬に開催）
日本三大船祭りの一つである塩竈みなと祭。
志波彦神社と鹽竈神社から神輿が港まで練り歩き、２基の神輿を御座船「龍鳳丸」と「鳳凰丸」に乗せて日本三景松島湾内を巡幸します。この神輿の海上御渡は、塩釜にまつられた鹽土老翁神 （しおつちおぢのかみ）を、年に一度海へお連れするという役割があるといいます。
龍鳳丸と鳳凰丸を追って約100隻もの魚船が供奉船として出航し、松島湾には勇大な景色が 広がります。ちなみに塩竈神社には、けっこうな急斜 のついた長い石段があるのですが、ここを神輿を担いで降りてくると思うと、それだけでもすごいです。

踊りは「豊年踊り」「男踊り」「女踊り」と３種類あり、いずれの踊りも洗練されていて惚れ惚れと魅入ってしまいます。
また、日本一静かな祭りとも言われるおわら風の盆。大勢の観光客がいるにも関わらず、 聞こえてくる音は演奏と歌と踊り手の衣装の擦れる音のみというところもいいですよね。
『Owara Kaze no Bon Matsuri』
(Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, held annually on September 1, 2, and 3)

『長崎くんち』
（長崎県長崎市、 毎年10月7 • 8 • 9日に開催）
諏訪神社の秋の大祭として開催されるお祭り。
踊町とよばれる町が市内に58カ町あり、それぞれに決まった洟し物をもち、これら踊町が7つのグループに分けられ、7年に1度お祭りで演し物を披露する当番が回ってきます。 なので、すべての演し物を見るには7年が必要！
「シャギリ」というお囃子を演奏する人たちがいるのですが、地べたに直接座って演奏をするそうで、雨が降ってもそのスタイルは変わらないとのこと。かっこいいですね。
また、2023年演し物には郷土玩具のモチーフになっている「鯨の潮吹き」が入っています。
ちなみに、長崎にある「グラバー園」の園内に「長崎伝統芸能館」という資料館があり、長崎くんちに関する映像や実際にお祭りで使用されている曳き物などが展示物として見ることができます。 とてもおすすめです！
『Nagasaki Kun chi』

Therefore, it takes seven years to see all the performances! There is a museum called "Nagasaki Traditional Performing Arts Museum" in the "Glover Park" in Nagasaki, where you can see the video about Nagasaki Kunchi and the actual floats used in the festival as exhibits. It is highly recommended!

『山田八幡宮祭典と大杉神社祭典』
（岩手県山田町、 毎年9月14 • 15日に開催）
岩手県のリアス式で有名な三陸海岸のど真ん中の山田町で開催されるお祭りで、14日は山田八幡宮例祭、15日は大杉神社例祭が行われる。
山田八幡宮例祭は町中を走り回る暴れ神輿が町を練り歩き、八幡大神楽や八幡鹿舞、そして東北を代表する郷土芸能「山田境田虎舞」が奉納されます。
大杉神社例祭では「おしおごり」と呼ばれる神輿を担いだ男達が海に入り、海上渡御をします。このときも船上で虎が舞います。
この境田虎舞が素晴らしく、しかも演舞をするのは30代以下の若い人たちであることにも驚かされます。 虎の仕草も魅力的で、迫力のある演出には胸を撃たれます。
岩手県には自治体や地域単位で、郷土芸能の団体が集まり芸能を披露し合う「郷土芸能祭」というイベントがあるので、そのような場や各種イベントで見ることができるそうです。
私もいつか実際に見てみたい！

『北海へそ祭り』
（北海道富良野市、毎年7月28 • 29日開催）
富良野市は北海道の中心に位置することから、「北海道のへそ」と呼ばれています。
これを何か郷土芸能に結びつけることで富良野市を発展させられないかと考えられて、北海へそ祭りが誕生しました。
なんといっても、お腹に顔を描いて踊るへそ踊りが特徴的。
この踊りは「お祭りにはユニークさが必要だ！へそを活かした踊りをやろう！」と 商店街の人たちによって考え出されました。
私は、一見へんてこでふざけた様に見えるが、爽面目に作られたものがとても好きなので、この踊りを生み出した商店街の人は立派だなと思います。
しかし、今でこそ大勢の人たちが参加するお祭りとなっていますが、初回は嫌がる若者を なだめながら、なんとか11人を踊らせたらしいです。
この11人の若者のおかげて今があると思うと、拍手を送りたいですね。
『Hokkai Heso Matsuri』※ Heso means navel

『全国こけし祭り』
（宮城県大崎市鳴子温泉、毎年9月に開催）
嗚子こけしの産地である嗚子温泉で開催される、日本各地の伝統こけしが集合するこけしファンにはたまらないお祭り。
こけし業界の発展やこけしへの感謝、またこのお祭りの成功を祈ってこけしの供養、奉納式などの儀式を行う。そのほか、こけしのコンクールや実測販売、こけし座談会 などのイベントもあるが、私にとって一番見たいのはパレードである。
「張りぼてこけし」や、顔だけの被り物の「顔ボテこけし」を被った人々が練り歩く パレードはなんともシュールである。最初にこけしになってみよう！と思った人がいた と思うと、なんかすごいなぁと思う。

『硫黄島八朔太鼓踊り』メンドン
（鹿児島県三島村、 毎年旧暦の8月1 • 2日に開催）
硫黄島に伝承されれいる民俗行事。
八朔太鼓踊りという、鉦（かね）を持った歌い手と、矢旗を背負い太鼓を抱えた踊り手が踊り終えると仮面神「メンドン」が現れ、 暴れまわり悪霊を祓います。
メンドンは手に神木（スッベン木）を持っていて、これで観客を叩いてお祓いをします。
また、メンドンは夜もおかまいなしに家の中にやってきて暴れ回るというので驚きです。家の中のものが壊されたりすることがあっても、 メンドンは「天下御免」でメンドンに逆らうことは許されず、 なかに誰が入っているかも詮索してはいけない決まりになっているのだそうです。 面白いですね。
『Iwo Jima Hassaku Taiko Dance 』Mendon

『鳥取しゃんしゃん祭』
（鳥取県鳥取市、毎年8月中旬に開催）
毎年8月中旬に鳥取市で開催される夏祭り。 地元の神社の例祭の行列に、鳥取市に伝わる伝統的な「因幡の傘踊り」をアレンジして、 市民が参加できる踊りを考え、今のっしゃんしゃん傘踊りとなりました。年4千人を超える踊り子が一斉に踊る、この鳥取しゃんしゃん祭は『最大の傘踊り』で世界 記録を達成しています。
踊りに使用される傘は「しゃんしゃん傘」と呼ばれ、傘の骨のに鈴が取り付けられ、踊りの要所で「しゃんしゃん」と鈴の音が響きます。また、傘に色にも意味があり、砂丘や、日本 海、魚が飛び跳ねている様子、雨乞い祈願などを表しています。
傘は一つ一つ手作りで作られるため、入手が困難な場合があるので、気軽に祭りに参加して もらえるよう「すずっこ」という道具が考案され、「すずっこ踊り」して使われるようになっています。

『日向ひょっとこ夏祭り』
（宮崎県日向市、毎年8月第1週の土曜日に開催）
豊作や商売繁盛を願って「日向ひょっとこ踊り（正式名称：永田のひょっとこ踊り）」 を踊るお祭り。 ひょっとこ踊りとは「ひょっとこ」「おかめ」「きつね」それぞれのお面を付けて、 赤い着物に白い帯、豆絞りの手ぬぐいを被って、陽気な踊りを踊るのが特徴。
熱心なファンや市民によって、年々踊り手や観客が全国から集まり、宮崎を代表するお祭りに成長しています。
お祭り当日のパレードももちろんいいのですが、前夜祭ではひょっとこ踊りの全国大会が開催され、ひょっとこ踊りを愛する猛者たちによって、日本一を決める熱い戦いが繰り広げられます。
特に、キッズ部門では大人顔負けのキレキレの踊りを披露するキッズもいたりして かなり面白いので、個人的には前夜祭から参加したいお祭りです。

『なまはげ柴灯（せど）まつり』
（秋田県男鹿市、毎年2月の第2金・土・日開催）
大晦日に行われるなまはげ行事と男鹿市にある真山神社の「柴灯祭」を合わせたお祭り。 人がなまはげになるための儀式「なまはげ入魂」や、炎の前で2体のなまはげが踊る「なまはげ踊り」、なまはげが和太鼓を演奏する「なまはげ太鼓」などのパフォーマンス が行われる。
中でも私が魅力的だと感じているのが「はまはげ下山」である。山の上から叫び声を上げて なまはげたちが現れ、雪山を降りてくるのだが、自然界と混ざり、より異形なものに見える なまはげたちはぜひ一度生で見てみたい。
ちなみに、なまはげのお面は男鹿市の各地域によってデザインが色々あり、一見これもなま はげ？と思うようなもの多くて面白い。お祭りラストには観客のところに、なまはげたちが やってくる「なまはげ乱入」があるので、一緒に撮影したりと間近でなまはげを堪能するこ とができる。

（徳島県徳島市、毎年8月12〜15日に開催）
400年を超える歴史を持つといわれる徳島県（旧・阿波国）を発祥とする盆踊りで、日本 三大盆踊りの一つでもあります。
阿波踊りは男踊りと女踊りに分かれ、男踊りの特徴は、力強く、ダイナミックに、自由に 大きく踊ること。それに対し、女踊りの魅力は、集団美と言われています。 確かに、女性の阿波踊りは大群がやってくるイメージがありますね。
徳島市には、1年を通して阿波おどりを楽しめる「阿波おどり会館」があり、阿波踊りの公 演を見たり、踊り体験したり、ミュージアムで展示を見たりと、阿波おどりの魅力に触れる ことができます。
